How do I proceed with considering becoming a Wescott client?

Please contact us by e-mail or phone.  We then will provide more information and schedule a visit.  We offer each prospective client a mo-obligation, detailed analysis of his or her current financial situation, as well as our recommendations.  This way, the prospect’s investment position and suggestions are clear before a decision is made to engage us.

How has Wescott historically performed? What is Wescott's performance track record?

Our performance, especially in the long term, reveals the benefits of Wescott’s manager selection, diversification and re-balancing discipline, implemented in our model and every client portfolio.  Please visit your myWescottVault for more information.

How does Wescott charge for services?
Icon

Our fees are based upon a percentage of client assets under management.  We receive no compensation from anyone other than our clients.

How are income taxes factored into portfolio management?
Icon

Our heritage as tax accountants and attorneys makes us very sensitive to the erosion of portfolio returns caused by income taxes.  For individuals, we are vigilant in selecting portfolio investments which are tax sensitive, and then managing each client’s portfolio in a tax-sensitive way.  With the prime objective of preserving capital, at times we will advise selling a security to take the capital gain (or loss) more for investment efficacy than tax planning.

Institutional clients, such as pensions, foundations, endowments and IRAs, are tax-free (or tax-deferred) entities.  As such, we manage for the best gross possible, unconstrained by current income tax considerations.

How are investment portfolios implemented?

After a thorough and detailed analysis of the client’s specific circumstances, an Investment Policy and detailed Implementation Plan is constructed for the client’s review, consideration and approval.  Wescott’s primary goal is to be thoughtful, detailed and consistent when dealing with the client’s legacy of wealth.

What is Wescott's minimum account size required?
Icon

Our minimum account size is $2 million in investable assets.

What is Wescott's investment philosphy?
Icon

Wescott’s philosophy is founded in historical perspective and market knowledge.  History has shown that investment cycles repeat themselves, providing a range of expected performance, however, it is not reasonable that one can “time” buying or selling within a market cycle.  We believe that a diversified portfolio that is thoughtfully structured and implemented will provide an investor with a greater likelihood of better, more stabilized performance through these market cycles.

If I become a Wescott client, with whom will I work?
Icon

Each client has a Wescott team serving his or her needs.  The client is assigned both a primary advisor—a subject matter expert, skilled in specific areas as required by the client—and a secondary advisor, for backup and support.  Advisors work with our Investment Research Group, which ensures that all portfolios are implemented and maintained in accordance with our research, strategies and disciplines.  Portfolios are reviewed quarterly by the advisor and the IRG.  Additionally, the Operations team provides day-to-day client portfolio support, as well as quarterly client reporting.

Does Wescott select the individual securities that make up my portfolio?
Icon

We customize asset allocations for each client based upon their unique set of circumstances.  We then select managers who we’ve identified to be the best within their asset classes, whether it’s stocks, bonds or alternative investments.  These managers are not Wescott’s employ, but are independently and objectively selected based upon their proven and consistent performance when compared to the appropriate benchmarks.
