Adina Lewis As Managing Director Florida, Richard Gotterer has overall accountability for the coordination and delivery of financial advisory and wealth management services in Wescott’s Florida service area. Serving as the area’s senior financial advisor, Richard provides direct financial planning and wealth management advice and services to prospective and current clients and serves as the local manager of Wescott’s Florida-based business operations. He is a member of Wescott’s Portfolio Strategy Group, participating in the ongoing due diligence and evaluation of investment managers and strategies, as well as the Investment Committee, which is responsible for Wescott’s asset allocation models and investment strategies. Richard is also a member of the Marketing and Sales Committees. Prior to joining Wescott in 2010, Richard served as Chief Investment Officer and Senior Vice President at Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust for more than nine years. As Chairman of the Investment Strategy Group, he spearheaded a team that introduced and implemented a globally diversified open architecture investment solution developed by Wescott. Richard also supervised the investment process and personally managed approximately $300 million of client fixed income portfolios in taxable and municipal bonds. While working with many of the bank’s high net worth clients, he developed personalized investment objectives and asset allocation plans, and established target returns with highly successful results. Before joining Gibraltar, Richard was the Vice President/Fixed Income Portfolio Manager at Schroder Investment Management in New York for more than seven years where he managed approximately $3 billion in taxable fixed income securities for institutional investors and high net worth investors. He was also a member of the firm’s Portfolio Strategy and Asset Allocation Committee and co-managed two mutual funds. Richard began his career as a financial analyst in the investment banking department of Oppenheimer & Co. The Wall Street Journal and other financial publications have frequently quoted Richard as an expert on fixed income markets. His vast knowledge of economic and market conditions has led to frequent speaking engagements for clients and professional associations. A frequent contributor to a number of well respected financial publications, Richard is well-versed in discussing and addressing a wide range of tax, accounting, estate planning and insurance issues. He is proud to serve as a Trustee of the Bet Shira Endowment and on the board of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation South Dade Chapter. Richard earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in accounting from American University. Richard became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ after completing the Professional Education Program at Boston University’s Institute of Finance. He is also a registered trust representative. Richard resides in Miami, Florida with his wife, Mindy Gotterer, and their two children.
